    Hello coleagues,

In the "old" ORMTA website, each teacher had a page with information about education, vision, and so on. So when someone was looking for a teacher, besides the cold information, they also could read about the kind of person this teacher is. Now all they see is name, address, subjects taught. What happened to the human side of our profiles?

    Hi Myriam,

    Thanks for your question!

Each member has a section in their profile called "Bio".  This is where the member can include text describing their professional credentials and teaching approach.  An added "human" element is where a member can add a picture.

To insert your bio, picture and even a web site address, log into your profile.  Click "View Profile" in the top right corner.  Click the "Edit profile" button.  Scroll down and look for the large field with the word "Bio" beside.  Proceed to type of copy & paste your bio into this field.  Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.  Then click on the word "Privacy" near the top.  Ensure that your "Bio" field is clicked to "Anybody" to ensure that anyone accessing your profile from the "Find a Teacher" Directory will be able to view it.  Then click the "Save" button.

Also remember to access more info about a member from a list generated after doing a search, make sure that you click on the members' name.

I hope this info helps.  Please let me know if you have any other issues.
    Regards, Frank

How do we gain access to edit our branch pages?
With the old webpage we sent in information to the webmaster in order to have it posted (events/photos etc.)
I see a few branches have personalized their pages, but I'm not sure how to do this. Please advise.

    Hi Jennifer,

At present, your branch's president and past president have administrative access to update the content of your branch's web page.  Your branch president has authority to instruct me to give other members of your branch admin access.  Please discuss further with her.

I've also noticed that my page says that I've been a member since October 2012 when in reality I joined back in the 90's. How can I get this changed? Thanks for your help.

    Hi Christina,

You are correct that your profile does contain the incorrect "Member since" date.  The reason for this is ORMTA's head office is presently migrating all the paper archive into our digital database.  It is a huge job and that type of info will be included in due time.  In the meantime, do not feel the need to have that type of info viewable by the public.  Within your profile, click the Privacy tab and make the "Member since" field "not viewable to anyone.

Any other questions, let me know.

    Regards, f.
