Greater Toronto Area Zone is one of nine regional ORMTA zones. This zone contains nine of the thirty-three local ORMTA branches in Ontario. To see a complete list of zones and branches, click here.

Winners and Runners-up from every level will be performing at the ORMTA GTA Zone Winners' Recital, at 7 p.m on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at St. Matthew's United Church, 333 Crosby Ave., Richmond Hill. (map). Come hear these dynamic young performers! Winners from the Level “B” competitions will also move on to represent the Greater Toronto Area at the 2017 ORMTA Provincial Competitions.

2017 ORMTA Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions - Application Deadline: Monday, May 1, 2017


The 2017 ORMTA Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions took place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Matthew's United Church, 333 Crosby Ave., Richmond Hill



Adjudicators: Michael Faulkner and Roland Fix

Students who wish to participate in the GTA Zone Competitions must first qualify at their local branch audition/assessment.

Please take ALL GTA Zone Level AND Provincial Level forms to the adjudicator for his/her signature right at the beginning of your branch's Audition session, and have him/her sign ALL forms BEFORE you start your Auditions. Then you may fill in the proper forms with the student, teacher & repertoire information once the student qualifies. All levels MUST have correctly filled out and SIGNED forms in order to qualify for competition.

Winners from the Level “B” competitions will move on to represent the Greater Toronto Area at the 2017 ORMTA Provincial Competitions.

Winners from every level will be invited to play at the ORMTA GTA Zone Winners' Recital, on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at St. Matthew's United Church, 333 Crosby Ave., Richmond Hill.

NEW: Note that there is no Young Artist (Level A) competition at the Provincial level in odd-numbered years. However, we we will hold "Zone Artist" competitions for both instrumentalists and vocalists. Both Zone Artist winners will be invited to perform at the Winners' Recital.

Background:


The ORMTA Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions is an annual event featuring some of the most talented advanced music students in the GTA. Advanced students of ORMTA members can compete in one of five competitions by first qualifying at their local branch audition. Winners of a Level A (even-numbered years only) or B (every year) Zone competition qualify to represent the GTA in an ORMTA Provincial Competition.
