GTA ZONE COMPETITIONS - MAY 25, 2019

COMPETITION SCHEDULE:

9:00 - 9:30 AM - warm up (5 min each)
9:30 - 11:30 - Zone Instrumental (6 participants)

11:55-12:30 - warm up (5 min each)
12:30 - 2:00 - Zone Intermediate Instrumental 

2:10 - 2:30 - warm up (10 min each)
2:30 - 4:00 - Zone Artist

4:05 - 4:30 - warm up (5 min each)
4:30 - 6:00 - Zone Intermediate Vocals

6:45 - 7:00 - warm up (5 min each)
7:00 - 9:00 - Zone Vocals

The ORMTA Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions is an annual event featuring some of the most talented advanced music students in the GTA. Advanced students of ORMTA members can compete in one of five competitions by first qualifying at their local branch audition/assessment. Winners of the following competitions qualify to represent the GTA in an ORMTA Provincial Competition:

- Young Artist (ARCT and up) (even-numbered years only)
- Zone Vocal (Level 9 and up)
- Zone Instrumental (Level 10 and ARCT)

The 2019 ORMTA Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Newmarket Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford St., Newmarket, ON L3Y 1T1

Students who wish to participate in the GTA Zone Competitions must first qualify at their local branch audition/assessment.

Please take ALL GTA Zone Level AND Provincial Level forms to the adjudicator for his/her signature right at the beginning of your branch's audition/assessment session, and have him/her sign ALL forms BEFORE you start your auditions/assessments. Then you may fill in the proper forms with the student, teacher & repertoire information once a student qualifies. 

All levels MUST have correctly filled out and SIGNED forms in order to qualify for competition.

2019 GTA Zone Winners' Concert and Awards Ceremony - JUNE 2, 2019

First place winners at the GTA Zone Competitions will be invited to perform at the Zone Recital, along with the Greg Vandikas, 2018 winner of the Provincial Young Artist Competition:

Runners up are encouraged to attend to receive their trophies.

2019 GTA Zone Masterclasses - MAY 26, 2019

The ORMTA GTA Zone branches are pleased to present masterclasses for students of ORMTA GTA Zone teachers with pianist Li Wang and singer Leslie Fagan to be held on Sunday May, 26, 2019. Both Leslie and Li will be our adjudicators for the 2019 GTA Zone competitions.

Piano Masterclass - 9:30am - 12pm
Vocal Masterclass - 1pm - 3:30pm
Location: NewMarket Old Town Hall - 460 Botsford St, Newmarket

The Masterclasses are open to students in the following category levels: Young Artist, Zone Instrumental/Vocal and Zone Intermediate.

Applications: Are to be submitted by e-mail to gtazone@ormta.org and should include the following:

- Completed Application Form
- Good quality video presentation of masterclass repertoire. Videos must 
be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo with a link included in the application. Note: 1 repertoire selection per applicant.

Deadline: May 10, 2019 at 12pm. Notification of results will be emailed directly to the applicant by May 15, 2019

Fee: There is no fee to submit a video recording application. However, candidates who are chosen to participate in the classes will be required to pay a fee of $75 per 20 minute class OR $95 per 30 minute class. These fees must be mailed to GTA Zone on or before the May 20th, 2019.

Auditor Fee: ORMTA Members $5
Non - ORMTA Members $10
Note: Successful applicants and their parents are not charged an auditors fee
