About The Teacher/Business

At a young age, I had a natural interest in music. My mother played the guitar and sang. It was while singing with her that I picked up singing harmony by ear. We had a little organ, and I started learning to play piano on it when I was 5. A few years later, I began regular piano lessons, completing piano exams and competing in our local Music Festival each year. My attention to details helped me to perfect and memorize pieces in order to accomplish these goals. I completed my Grade 9 piano in 1996, and from there, decided to pursue my love of music. I applied to the Music Program at Emmanuel Bible College, where I graduated with honours. Since graduating in June 2000, I have established myself in a piano-teaching career, while volunteering at my church in worship bands and occasionally playing/singing for weddings and accompanying for soloists and choirs. I took my training for Music for Young Children, which I taught for 10 years. With a recent decision to move 10 minutes from my town of Parry Sound, I have recently decided to retire from teaching MYC. I have been thinking about taking more formal vocal lessons in the future to further my career as a teacher, and will hopefully be able to teach voice some day.
