Violinist Jin Lee Youn, born in Jeonju, Korea, began studying violin at the age of four. She attended the Pre-College program at The Korean National University and graduated from Yewon Arts School (1999 – 2002) after studying with Nam Yoon Kim, and Seoul Arts High School (2002 – 2005) after studying with Sung Sic Yang and Ik-Hwan Bae. Upon moving to New York City, she completed the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in violin performance at The Juilliard School as a scholarship recipient, studying with David Chan, Lewis Kaplan, Sally Thomas, and Mr. Nick Eanet (2006 - 2012). She also completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at Stony Brook University, where she studied with Soovin Kim, Philip Setzer, and Hagai Shaham (2012-2015). Jin Lee was awarded the Gold Medal at Korea Music Competition in Seoul, Korea in 1993, won a prize at the Seoul Music Competition in Seoul, Korea in 1997, First Place at the Music Competition of Paju in Korea 1999 and 2000, Second Place at the Nation-wide Music Competition sponsored by CBS in Seoul, Korea in 2003, and a prize at the New York Artists International Competition in 2015. Jin Lee is an active solo and chamber musician with an international performing profile. Her performances were broadcasted on Ariang TV and Febc TV. In 2015, Jin Lee performed Mozart Concertante in E-flat Major with La Fuse Players Group at Sejong Center, Seoul, Korea as well as New York Classical Symphony Orchestra in Lincoln center, New York, NY. She also performed Saint-Saens Introduction and Rondo capriccioso with Inspired Passion Chamber Orchestra in Aram Art Hall, Goyang, Korea, in 2008, Mendelssohn Concerto in E Minor op.64 with Romania National Symphony Orchestra in Youngsan Art Hall, Seoul, Korea, in 2000. Jin Lee is also the violinist for Starry Duo, with violist Dahm Huh. Together, they have brought their performances to notable venues including the Lincoln Center in New York and the Seoul Arts Center in Korea. They have released their first album in South Korea entitled “Hymns and Passcaglia” in January 2015. Jin-Lee was a violin faculty member at the New York Conservatory, in New York. In addition, she has coached young musicians at Youngnak Orchestra and is a member of the Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra and the Canadian Sinfonietta in Toronto, Canada. She is also an active member of KCCC, Korean Canadian Chamber Concert, and Avant P, piano duo with Canadian pianist Jacqueline C. Leung.
